GONE Fishing Maps — Lake, Swamp, Jungle & Arctic
All five GONE Fishing maps compared: species counts, legendary and mythic fish on each, depth, bait spawns and what changes at night on every map.
How many maps does GONE Fishing have?
Five playable maps plus the tutorial: the Lake, the Swamp, the Jungle, the Canyon and the Arctic. Each one carries its own species pool, its own Legendary or Mythic fish, and its own bait spawns, so the map choice decides what you can possibly catch before you even cast.
The Lake is where every run starts and where most players stay too long. The Arctic is the smallest pool and the most dangerous night. The Jungle has the widest species list at 62 and the only boat spawns.
Map comparison
| Map | Species tracked | Signature deep fish | Best recorded value | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Lake | 44 | Lochness Monster, Rhizodus | 14,656 | Starter map; Nessie at the front of the base |
| The Swamp | 51 | Dakosaur, Goliath Snapper | 11,399 | Altar in front of the cabin, two reed passages |
| The Jungle | 62 | Sperm Whale, Stingray, Giant Squid | 14,656 | Widest pool; only map with spawnable boats |
| The Canyon | 40 | Megalodon, Dunkleosteus | 14,656 | Fossil fish tier; Helicoprion and Xiphactinus |
| The Arctic | 37 | Colossal Squid, Orca | 14,656 | Smallest pool, hardest nights, polar creatures |
The Lake
The map you learn on, and the map that hides the Lochness Monster. The Lake’s altar sits directly left of the starting cabin and the gambling pool is inside the large cave behind it, which makes the whole early loop — bait, fish, sacrifice, gamble — walkable without a boat.

Behind the cabin you get the only two Turtles reachable on foot, and the left path leads to a small pond with two or three Ducks. The cave system is the bait backbone: Scorpions along the left wall, Crabs around the teleportation portal, Rats past the pink mushroom, and the alligator spot at the water’s edge.
Deep water matters here. The Lake reaches 6,000 depth in places, and going further from shore consistently produces deeper readings than fishing the dock — the same spot at 2,000 versus 5,000 is a different species pool.
The Swamp
The Swamp has the cleanest layout of the five: the altar is directly in front of the starting cabin, reachable through either of two reed passages, and the gambling pool sits in a rock gap northeast, easiest to find by hugging the right-hand map edge.

It is also the only map where your fishing has to compete with water hazards from the start. Gator Alley is the obvious one, but the real danger is the water depth — the Swamp’s shallows are wide and inviting and its deep pockets are narrow.
The Swamp’s Exclusive-tier fish is the Dakosaur, at 6 recorded catches one of the two rarest species in the game, alongside the Goliath Snapper at 42 catches and a 105,247 lb ceiling.
The Jungle
The Jungle is the biggest pool in the game: 62 tracked species, and the only map where you can spawn a boat from the escape menu. The altar sits in front and slightly right of the starting cabin, and the gambling pool is across the wide water from the fishing dock, ringed by bamboo.

The Jungle is where the deep-water meta lives. The Sperm Whale, Stingray and Giant Squid are all Jungle-locked and all sit above 8,000 points. It also has the widest bait variety — Cassowary, Capybara and Tapir spawn here and nowhere else.
Two warnings. The boat is genuinely unstable — the developers gate it to this map precisely because it breaks things. And the Jungle’s night cycle arrives with the widest range of hostile creatures, from the Giant Spider to the Frog Tribesmen.
The Canyon
The Canyon is the fossil map. Dunkleosteus, Helicoprion, Saurichthys, Lepidotes and Cephalaspis are all here, and so is the Megalodon — 15 recorded catches, and the heaviest single fish ever logged at 302,070 lb.

Structurally the Canyon is vertical: cliff faces, rope bridges, and a gambling cave reachable by teleport. It is also the map with the most water you cannot see from the shore, which makes a Depth Finder close to mandatory.
The Arctic
The Arctic has the smallest species pool at 37 and the harshest conditions. Snow is not cosmetic here: if it is snowing you have to make quota or you face a game over, and night falls earlier than on any other map.

What it lacks in variety it makes up for at the top. The Colossal Squid (8 catches, 222,724 lb ceiling) and the Orca (60 catches, 43,366 lb) are both Arctic, and the polar creatures — Polar Bear, Baby Polar Bear, Seal, Baby Penguin, Walrus — are the highest-score bait sources in the game.

How to pick a map
- First ten days: the Lake. It has the most forgiving geography and the best-documented bait route.
- Farming bait: the Arctic for polar creatures, the Jungle for tropical ragdolls.
- Chasing one specific fish: match the map to the species table on the fish list — every Legendary is map-locked.
- Multiplayer sessions: the Lake or the Swamp, because the altar is a short walk from the cabin and a bad night does not strand half the group.
